A chiropractic adjustment is a manual therapy technique used to restore proper joint alignment and improve movement. Your chiropractor uses their hands or a specialized instrument to apply controlled force to the spine or extremities, helping reduce pain, improve function, and support your body’s natural healing process.
-
The popping sound you may hear during a chiropractic adjustment is completely normal. It occurs when gas bubbles are released from the joint due to a change in pressure — similar to the sound you hear when cracking your knuckles. This release happens as your chiropractor gently manipulates the joint to restore proper alignment and mobility.
The adjustment itself typically involves little to no discomfort, and the sound is simply a natural byproduct of the process — not the bones themselves moving or breaking.
